The LM 27 was built from 1972 to 1985 in a Danish shipyard, LM Yachting, in Lunderskov specifically for sailing in the Baltic Sea.
The designer of the boat, which was designed as a long keel, was Palle Mortensen.
LM later produced the relatively powerful motorized pointed creel with the same concept in other sizes: LM 23, LM 24, LM 27, LM 28, LM 30 LM 32.
The LM are characterized by a covered driver's cab with standing height, in which the galley is also housed. This made LM one of the pioneers of deck saloon yachts produced today.
